One big trend for the coming year(s) will be ability to run Large Language Models on personal devices (laptop, phone, etc). This will greatly speed up AI applications, and will take away some of the cost limitations that software companies have to deal with today. LLMs run in the cloud today. Companies have to pay to use them. This makes certain AI applications impossible to implement because of the cost and slow speed involved in making many calls to the LLM in the cloud. We will see a real explosion in innovative uses of LLMs once LLMs can run locally on every device. This will happen through hardware advancement in phones and laptop, as well as through the availability of smaller narrowly focused LLMs.
