Right after the Korean War, South Korea had nothing but rough soil and poor people. They were not even able to feed themselves and had to get assistance from UNESCO, etc. I know because I was there living in the country side in Choong Nam throughout Korean War and after the War. Now, South Korea is one of rich countries in Asia and even in the World. I am proud about it as a Korean. Koreans should never forget the people of the United States who helped defend South Korea from North Korean attack and helped economically and technologically after the war.
