I guess it depends on knowledge you can get while learning. You can graduate college but it doesn’t guarantee you will get a cool experience. Moreover, it also depends on your wish and society where you stay.

You raise good, important issues. I direct an MBA program and we are wrestling with these exact things: what should be required for an MBA? are there concentrations or certifications that can be helpful beyond the IT ones you list? Having worked in corporate HR for a number of years, I can say that in my experience certifications were deemed valuable only in these kinds of technical fields (or for something like PMP or SPHR); when choosing between a candidate with a degree and a candidate without, almost every time the degreed candidate is selected. There is (at least perceived) value in someone having gone through an undergrad program.

Do you realize most of the certifications you list actually require a degree? For example, to be a “certified school psychologist” one needs a degree that is, at the very least, between a masters and a doctorate degree. Clinical Lab Scientist typically requires bachelor’s degree. This is a very misleading article.
