I agree that releasing xenophobic sentiments could make a big difference. Simply having easy visas and residency to the older towns could make a big difference. They could isolate foreigners to certain areas this way. Any other isolation rules would seem to racist.

Until they admit their true history in WWII, I won’t seriously consider moving there.
There are plenty of other nice countries with attractive housing markets.

I wonder what South Korea will do about immigration.

I wish we had a “crisis” like this in my country. It would make housing very affordable. News tell that it is a crisis but actually it is very good for society and for our planet

Fix the birth rate issue. You must incentivize population growth and family creation or the society will collapse. That solves much of the other issues as if there are more people the demand will be there to occupy and revitalize older homes.

I didn’t see anything on how to promote women getting married and having families.

Perhaps couples that have been married for 5 years with 3 kids, pay no property taxes. Job protections and telework options for parents seem like a backstop solution to eliminating taxes for producers.

Don’t believe there was any discussion of the impact of the long standing Japanese belief in xenophobia; remember, to traditionalist Japanese Japan is not the Land of the Rising Sun but rather the Land of the Gods

They excel in robotics, especially in the area of care for the elderly, so as not to start importing health care workers

If their xenophobia is overcome in the near future, there may be no solution to the problem
